“QUOTA: See Who Made the Cut” - a short film conceived to raise awareness and inspire action for The Newport Beach Film Festival which screens over 350 films in 8 days, to an audience of over 50,000 film fans. Bringing the best in new, local, international and critically acclaimed cinema to Newport Beach. The campaign raised awareness of the festival 36%, raised attendance 39%, and scored 138 media hits in the first week.
Hanging from a cliff in a red rock chasm hangs a thin rope creating the line “See who made the cut”. In this key visual, a story of life and death is conveyed– someone made the cut, and someone did not. The poster is meant to intrigue the viewer and pique their interest in the festival. At the same time, the line “See who made the cut” refers to Newport Beach Film Festival itself, and how discerning and highly selective it is. Only the finest films submitted will “make the cut.”
